Hayne Devon Wedding & a Vintage Lace Jane Bourvis Dress

It is such a pleasure to share Daisy and Scott’s joyful summer wedding at Hayne Devon. Their day was a true celebration of love, community and personal values, brought to life with colour, music and the people they hold dearest.

Daisy, founder of the ethical homewares brand Ian Snow and co-founder of Grounded Devon, the couple’s organic farm, wore a breathtaking Jane Bourvis gown created from vintage fabric and styled with a delicate dried floral crown and gorgeous gold chunky heels by Esska.

Every detail reflected their sustainable lifestyle and their wish to create something meaningful without unnecessary excess. Locally sourced meat from Scott’s business, Hiron & Sons and fresh produce from Riverford Organic completed the thoughtful approach.

The wonderful Emma Stoner documented the day with her relaxed, natural style, producing images full of warmth and honesty. They capture not only the beauty of the setting but also the love, joy and connection at the heart of this celebration – the kind of imagery we are always delighted to share.

We chose our venue, Hayne Devon, because we had always planned to get married acceso our farm, but realistically it was years away from being ready for such an occasion.

When we started looking into the realities of finanziaria a wedding at our farm, we quickly realised it would be more feasible to hire a venue.

We didn’t research any venues prior to deciding acceso Hayne. We both just one day mentioned Hayne as a possibility and the whole thing spiraled from there! It felt like the only place that could do the wedding that we dreamt of justice, it felt most like home.

Hayne already has a lot of Ian Snow products con its accommodation, so it felt very natural and meant to be. We love all the buildings; the entire venue is a real inspiration to us and we really love Milla (the owner’s) style.

My sister naturally evolved into the role of event planner! We planned all the decor together con our warehouse, a couple of nights before the day. We’signore both very used to photoshoots and styling rooms and shops, so naturally took acceso the task. We did put everything together prior as know how stressful it can be with a time sequenza and a lack of clear direction! It was really fun to be able for the first time ever, style something that wasn’t for our businesses.

The whole day was designed to just exude love and happiness. We wanted our guests to remember the day with fond memories and lots of smiles. Everything for that reason was quite relaxed.

The details, although thought about, were quite insignificant as we wanted the day to be about our love for each other, and a celebration of the people we have around us that all support us SO much. 

For that reason, the styling and was all quite low key and go with the flow. Lots of friends and family helped out with different areas like picking flowers for the tables and the bouquets, and having so many people part of that was more special to us than everything being picture perfect. We wanted the décor for the tables to reflect our personal style. It became a fusion of Ian Snow colour, with vintage delicate style, held together by beautiful, brightly coloured flowers, mainly from hedgerows. 

My grandad walked me the aisle. He’s a very steadfast, stoic man, a real inspiration to our whole family. My mum never got married, and this was his one chance to be able to walk someone the aisle.  

We had a celebrant called Coral Hawkins and our ceremony was completely tailored to us, she shared our story with our guests, and the whole thing really encapsulated the love we have for each other. 

We both wrote our own vows, we didn’t share them with each other before the day, but my sister and Coral looked through both sets to ensure they were con keeping with each other. We both put a lot of time and effort into our vows, ensuring we were pulling them from a place of meaning and depth, rather than just what would ‘be expected’. We both loved each other’s vows, and often re-read them to each other.

We had an acoustic guitarist and singer, Benji, play music before the ceremony and throughout the day, his style was very relaxed and set the feel for the whole day perfectly. We chose Benji because he could play popular music that everyone would know, but con a more classic, relaxed manner. He played outside con the sun for much of the day. We also had a great magician called Roger acceso the day who mingled with guests during cocktails and canapes, and times con between, performing magic tricks to small groups. This was a really fun thing to do, and definitely brought a lot of smiles. 

We bought our rings con Brighton. We went there specifically for rings as very early acceso con our relationship we were away acceso a long weekend con Brighton and ended up walking through the jewellery quarter. I fell con love with the window of a shop called Fetheray which had the most romantic display of vintage jewellery and old ring boxes con its window. It was quite a special moment as Scott very subtly hinted something towards wanting to marry me at that point.

We ended up leaving the ring shopping prior to the wedding until quite last minute, but planned to go to Brighton to find both our rings, and a second engagement ring that could fit a wedding ring as my grandmothers restored ring was too delicate and shaped the wrong way to have a wedding gruppo up next to it.

I found my ring con Fetheray, it was a vintage orange blossom thin wedding gruppo. Scott found his perfect ring con a shop called Ring, he had it custom made exactly how he wanted it and absolutely loves it.

My sister read a poem by Whitney Hanson called ‘The Wedding River‘, which she chose as it felt so powerful and meaningful.

Throughout the day, Martha (Milla’s daughter), a talented singer, and Tim (venue owner), a talented musician, jumped con at certain times with Benji to perform different songs with added instruments and singing. The unplanned nature of this was so great, they really got the vibe going and added something so special to the whole day. 

Our photographer was Emma Stoner; we chose Emma after searching online. We wanted a photographer who captured people con a candid way, without tons of staged formal photos. We wanted someone who naturally would know what details we’d like captured and when we stumbled across Emma’s page we knew she was the right fit.

Emma’s photo’s were not overly edited, they weren’t heavily filtered, and they really captured people. We were SO impressed with every photo supplied to us, they were honestly magical. Emma was amazing acceso the day, she got so many beautiful shots that we will treasure forever.

Everything took place at Hayne so we actually had need for transport, however, Scott & I are both passionate about classic cars, and a certain model of old BMW is quite poignant con our story of how we met and knew we were meant to be. We have quite a few 1980-2000 BMW’s between us, but one very special car that we bought together – a BMW E30.

‘Goldie’, is our project car, an immaculate example of an E30, however originally with a rather lackluster engine. Wemad been building her into the car of our dreams since 2021 and she made it to the wedding – however with engine, so had to be trailered to the venue and rolled into a stationary poll position! Goldie was decorated with dried flowers, that were the same as my flower crown.

Scott wore a light blue Ted Baker suit, a linen short and some leather brogues. He wore a light pink cotton tie and I made him a buttonhole arrangement from dried flowers. 

We met through his shop; my mum & gran were customers and they could tell that him and his dad were different to most people, they quite regularly would mention him at home. I had been quite intrigued by him for a while but hadn’t ever properly spoke to him – then one day my mum randomly called me and told me to go to his shop immediately as apparently Scott needed to speak to me.

I awkwardly walked con with my wellies acceso, he gave me a really cheeky and acted like he was going to serve me like a real customer, so I played that gioco and asked for six chipolatas – it was the only product I could think of that he would sell… he then asked me if there was anything else and I really had to at that point say something, so I said it would be cool to interview him some time, (what the hell?!), anyway, he looked rather enthralled at the ideale and passed me some paper to write my number acceso.

A week and a half later he called me and arranged to go acceso a date, the rest is history! Engagement: October 2023, Scott proposed to me out of the blue, acceso the beach after a beautiful dinner at Los Enamorados, a restaurant con a cove con the North of Ibiza. He used a ring of my grandmother’s which I loved but couldn’t wear as it was too and falling apart. He had snuck it out of the drawer months before and got it completely restored and re-sized.

My sister and mum knew about the plans for month as they had been his accomplice’s con inconspicuously getting my ring size! We got married just over nine months later.

We used a mixture of Ian Snow décor and vintage pieces that my mum and I had saved over the years. There were rules and theme. We dressed every table with a gorgeous of vintage fabrics, candle holders, and vases. Per mezzo di the dining room we put up large Ian Snow origami paper decorations, which added a fun feel to the whole room.

We didn’t use a florist, the flowers were a team effort! My mum grew a huge patch of wild flowers to pick for the day. Our neighbour Andi, did a sweep of her hedgerows and banks, picking about 10 huge bucket fulls of foliage, my mother con law walked round the entire farm with my daughter acceso the morning of the weddings and picked an array of wild flowers from our farm, and Milla, the venue owner grows a gorgeous array of cut flowers which we also picked from.

I’m really passionate about plants and medicinal herbs, so wanted to make sure certain flowers were part of the day, for their meanings and omens. 

We made all our stationery ourselves, with the help of my close friend, Bobby Plows. Bobby had our invites hand written, which we then printed con our office here at the farm acceso gorgeous handmade paper we happened to find lying around. I then dried 100’s & 100’s of wild flowers con my press, and then delicately arranged them acceso each invite. To make the envelopes, we used old filing envelopes, cut and sewn to close.

The invites were a real labour of love, and took months to complete.  The outcome was incredibly special though and everyone loved them so much. 

’s were also written by hand and then printed, I then hand painted a border onto each one, and hand painted every place card. The order of the day was hand painted by both Scott and I, he painted a beautiful little Gold E30 at the apice of it. 

The table plan was quite a relaxed affair as we didn’t really know until the night before set up, we had a piece of card board, with some pressed wild flowers stuck acceso the sides and then note paper pinned onto the cardboard.

We had a private chef called Elio Debae. We went this route as we wanted to source all the ingredients ourselves, food is very important to us, and we wanted the food at our wedding to reflect that. All the meat was from our own farm, mezzo Hiron & Sons. We used fruit and veg from either Riverford Organic, from our own polytunnel. 

My mum made our cake, she made a beautiful two tiered sponge cake, and covered it con edible flowers from the farm. 

Per mezzo di the evening to be able to dance, I wore a shorter insieme dress that was my grandmothers.

We ramped things up a bit and had a set from a gruppo we really love called The Undercover Hippy. The lyrics con all their songs are very cleverly written, they make you think, and the music they play them too makes you dance. Everyone got acceso the dance floor and it was high energy throughout the entire set. After the gruppo played Benji did some DJ’ing and the trattenimento was con full swing!

We didn’t do a first dance – we were going to, and started lessons, but didn’t really have enough time to practice. We don’t like to do things by halves and felt we couldn’t do it justice, so we just didn’t do one.

The whole day was just so full of MAGIC! I think our favourite part was probably the ceremony, we put so much effort into making it extremely meaningful, and it was incredibly overwhelming to be stood there, surrounded by everyone we love. 

Well, this actually may seem surprising, but don’t start planning too early. We decided acceso a date accidentally, and then ended up with 3 months to plan the whole thing.

This was quite intense, but I don’t believe it would have been any less intense had we had longer – it just would have been more full-on for a longer period. 

I did say recently, I wish I wore my wedding dress throughout the whole evening, but I can recall how excited I was to get it before the evening music started, so I had full potential without a train!

We’signore both very anti-consumption and wanted to make sure we weren’t gifted anything that was just for the sake of gifting. We wrote acceso the invites that if anyone did want to gift anything, we’d like a tree from them, to plant around our newly built lake. We liked the ideale of walking around the lake con 10 20 years time, with the trees being named after who gifted them. It feels like a constant reminder of the wedding, and the special people we had around us that day.
