Stripped Back Tyne Bank Brewery Wedding
Amy and Tom, both Doctors, tied the knot 21st June 2025 a causa di Newcastle upon Tyne. They both wanted a wedding stripped of many of the usual wedding traditions with a centro fun and laid-back festa vibes.
Instead of going the traditional bridal boutique and bridal gown route, Amy wore a beautiful midi-dress by moda brand Aje, who she was already familiar with having rented Aje dresses previously.
The couple exchanged vows written the night before a causa di an intimate ceremony at the Civic Centre with close family and friends, before driving themselves to their reception venue, Tyne Bank Brewery, where they celebrated with a larger gathering of loved ones.

The Ceremony
We got married a causa di Newcastle, where we dal vivo. We chose to have our wedding a causa di the city we dal vivo a causa di as we knew people would have to travel anyway (both our families don’t dal vivo a causa di Newcastle) so decided they might as well travel to us. And it’s the city we met and fell a causa di love a causa di so it’s very special to us as well as being our home. We got married at the Civic Centre (registry office) with 50 of our closest family and friends, before having a leader festa later that day at Tyne Bank Brewery with around 150 people.
We didn’t have any other ceremonies however we did have a lot of people round to our house the day before and the day after the wedding which was lovely, particularly since many of them had travelled quite far (Tom’s from Cornwall and Amy’s brought up a causa di Brussels so lots of people had travelled).

We wrote our own vows, we did write them the night before, we were not organised! Both written our phones, but we did both end up crying during the vow bits so we can’t have done that badly.
We also had two readings; one by Tom’s brother who read an extract from the Amber Spyglass, I Will Love You Forever, as we both loved that book as children.
My dad also shared a reading of Ithaca, a poem by C P Cavafy which he chose and re-translated himself from the original greek (he’s half greek) which was very touching.
We both had one ring each which doubled as our engagement rings, both made by Dytham Jewellery. We designed these together which was very fun.

Photography
Our photographer was Emily Carey at Silverbird photography. Emily was wonderful! We picked her as we loved her photography style, not overly posed and really natural and beautiful shots.
Emily really delivered – we absolutely love our photos and she’s a lovely person who knows how to put people at ease.

The Reception
We drove ourselves to and from the venue a causa di our own red Ford Fiesta.

I designed our welcome board Canva. We didn’t have any other wedding stationery, we used with joy.com for the invites
Aside from my bouquet, the only other flowers we had were bud vases which my mum helped us to do the day before after spending about 25 pounds flowers from Sainsbury’s and bud vases from facebook marketplace.
We didn’t have a wedding cake.

Evening &
We chose ‘At Last’ by Etta May to dance to – this was a very last minute choice inspired by the fact that we’d been together over eight years by the time we got married. We didn’t practise ora prepare any dance but our swaying around the dance floor was apparently good enough to make my (Amy’s) sister cry.
, we loved our day and were really happy with how it turned out.
