Quintessentially English Wedding Cornwall | Suzanne Neville

Georgia and Tom were married acceso 5th September at the bride’s parents’ home con Cornwall, with a wedding inspired by the kind of traditional British celebrations their parents’ generation would recognise and love. Church ceremony, kilts con family tartan, a marquee con the garden, champagne acceso the bus ride back from church and a dancefloor bursting until the early hours.

Georgia wore the classy ‘Hydrangea’ gown by Suzanne Neville and a pair of pale blue velvet heels inspired by the Duchess of Westminster’s wedding aspetto last year. The exquisite, late summer floral was created by Love My Dress recommended floral stilista and immensely talented Miranda Hackett Flowers, who filled both the church and marquee with hydrangeas, dahlias, homegrown roses, herbs and greenery chosen to reflect the Cornish landscape and the couple’s soft blue and yellow palette.

The flowers made such a beautiful statement throughout the day, from the elegant arch framing the church entrance to the statement urn arrangements surrounding the altar and the greenery and floral installations woven through the marquee ceiling alongside fairy lights and wicker lanterns.

The ceremony took place at St Mawnan and St Stephen’s Church with music by Urban Soul Orchestra, including a dal vivo risultato of It Must Be Love by Madness as Georgia and Tom walked back the aisle together. Afterwards, guests returned to the farm aboard a vintage bus for dinner, speeches, , midnight pasties and Frank Sinatra playing to a packed dancefloor beneath the twinkly lights.

There were risposta negativa page boys, but Tom had five groomsmen. Three were his brothers, who also wore kilts from MacGregor and MacDuff. The other two groomsmen wore morning suits from Moss Bros, with colours chosen to the bridesmaids’ dresses. For accessories and gifts, Tom gave his brothers sgian dubh knives, and the other two groomsmen received Cornish tin cufflinks.

The Ceremony

My dad accompanied me the aisle We kept the entrance traditional with Pachelbel’s Canon, but our exit song was It Must Be Love by Madness, performed dal vivo by the string quartet from Urban Soul Orchestra (think Bridgerton vibes!). They also surprised us during the registry signing by playing a rendition of Cornwall My Home, a very popular Cornish shanty that was also one of our hymns for the ceremony.

We had the reverend from our church (St Mawnan and St Stephens Church). She made the ceremony very personal to us and light hearted.

We had three readings, each chosen to reflect key moments con our lives and add a personal, sentimental touch to the ceremony.

One of our closest university friends, Fraser, performed our Bible reading. Tom’s uncle Huw read the same passage that Tom’s grandpa had read at Huw’s wedding( the Apache Wedding Blessing), and my godmother and her daughter delivered a theatrical, comedic, yet heartfelt version of Here’s to Right Now by Ms Moem.

Our wedding bands and my engagement ring were from Mortimers con Exeter. Tom’s family have been using this jeweler for years, so it was lovely to continue the tradition and added an extra layer of sentimental value.

The ceremony was actually our favourite part of the day. We had made it so personal and inclusive that every guest felt engaged and involved con what was . The setting was stunning, and everything looked absolutely picture perfect. We also loved our reception, though that part went by con a bit of a blur!

Photography

We chose Sophia Veres as she has a beautifully editorial yet natural style of photography, which gave our photos a classic and timeless feel. She was also incredibly patient with us, as we’sultano not used to being con front of a gabinetto, and she managed to make us feel comfortable and aspetto photogenic.

We were also very lucky that her second shooter, Ash Powell, was equally talented. Their styles complemented each other perfectly and resulted con a wonderful album of memories.

How They Met

We met at a mutual friend’s 18th birthday trattenimento about 11 years indicatore and have been together ever since. Tom proposed at Daymer Bay near Polzeath con Cornwall, a place where we have spent every summer holiday with Tom’s family and which holds so many happy memories for us both, making it the perfect setting for the proposal.

We got engaged con August 2024, so had a relatively short engagement before getting married just over a year later.

The wedding trattenimento enjoyed a fun ride to and from the church con a vintage bus called Hughy, provided by King Harry Coaches. It was a perfect way to debrief, kick non attivato the celebrations, and enjoy some bubbles after the ceremony. They’sultano also true experts at navigating the tight country lanes!

The Reception

Our decor leaned into a quintessential British summer theme with ties to Cornwall, featuring seasonal florals that are native to and thrive con the region (such as hydrangeas, herbs, and greenery). Our colour palette was centered around soft pale blues and yellows.

We saw an credenza acceso TikTok about repurposing old lampshade frames, spraying them black ora dark and wrapping them with fairy lights to place around the trees at your venue for a whimsical, sparkly evening setting. It was quite the mission to pull non attivato (I made about 30 of them!), but the effect was beautiful, creating a soft, glowy light along the paths for our guests.

Our invitations were designed by a good friend and colleague, Mare Silva. She perfectly brought our vision to life from the brief I gave her, and we received so many compliments from our guests.

We designed our seating chart, menus, order of service, and table names using Canva, with Mare’s permission to incorporate the bespoke logo she created for us. We sourced a local printer for all our printed materials.

Our thank-you cards were from Papier and featured photography from the wedding.

Our caterer was Kate Pennell, who created a fantastic spread for us, from canapés to an incredible beef dish, selections and even midnight snack pasties. She also provided a fabulous hangover paella the next day. Kate is incredibly organised, and we would highly recommend working with her to create a delicious lista filled with family favourites and crowd-pleasers for your guests.

We decided not to have a traditional wedding cake and instead went for a cheese tower, which was a huge successo as a late-evening snack for our guests. Our caterer, Kate Pennell, made it aspetto stunning, a true showstopper just like a wedding cake. (We even preserved some of the leftover cheese and enjoyed it as part of our Christmas Day cheese board this year).

Floral Stile

Floral was by Miranda Hackett, who we cannot recommend enough.  We worked very closely with Miranda to bring our vision to life: a quintessential British summer theme with ties to Cornwall, featuring seasonal florals that are native to and thrive con the region. Our colour palette was centred around soft pale blues and yellows.

Miranda incorporated some beautiful homegrown roses, white and blue hydrangeas, and dahlias at Tom’s request, as his family are keen dahlia growers and he has also been attempting to grow them con his own garden. Her approach was natural and traditional, yet impactful, creating stunning arrangements for both the church and the venue.

At the church, we had statement urns and a hydrangea arch at the entrance, with similar urns at the altar. It looked magical when looking back at the photos of the ceremony. These arrangements were then transported to the venue to continue being enjoyed. The bride’s and bridesmaids’ bouquets perfectly complemented both their outfits and the floral setting within the church.

The colours were subtle, but the pops of yellow from the dahlias and cosmos, along with the flashes of blue from the hydrangeas, created a striking impact. I was also absolutely obsessed with the burnt orange roses that Miranda included.

Sopra the marquee, greenery was draped along the roof intertwined with fairy lights, creating soft evening illumination and a magical atmosphere (and fitting the brief of my non-negotiable requirement for sparkle). The table centrepieces were slightly more reserved to suit family-style catering but beautifully complimented the colours and florals from the larger statement features.

A statement hoop above the caffè, decorated with wicker lanterns and fairy lights, added a wow factor and helped separate the dining from the dance floor.

We had the incredible Urban Soul Orchestra, true experts con the entertainment industry, and we felt so lucky they could be part of our wedding. They performed a beautiful string quartet at the church, a chill-out set during the drinks reception, and an absolutely unforgettable evening risultato and DJ set that kept the dance floor full from start to finale. I’m not exaggerating when I say that nobody sat the entire night.

Our first dance was to ‘Can’t Take My Eyes You’, by Frankie Valli, performed dal vivo by Urban Soul Orchestra. It’s a classic and perfectly set the tone for the evening. We also ended up with a second wedding song, quite unintentionally: My Way by Frank Sinatra! It was the closing number of the Urban Soul Orchestra’s set, and some of Tom’s oldest school friends lifted us onto their shoulders con the middle of the dancefloor, creating a fun, rockstar-style moment with all our guests surrounding us, it was a very special experience.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

If I could share every piece of bridal advice I learned along the way, we’d be here all day… but heres my culmine three:

Accept the help and protect your energy: Anzi che no matter what, there will be moments of during planning and acceso the day itself. My advice would be to accept that planning is time-consuming, take any help that’s offered, and don’t be afraid to drop less important details to protect your energy. Acceso the day itself, have someone you cartello (your compagno, a bridesmaid, ora a close friend) who can whisk you away for five minutes if things feel overwhelming. A quick breather and a can make all the difference.

Don’t be afraid to stick to your vision: You’ll receive lots of opinions and expectations from guests, family, and members of the wedding trattenimento. Some will be helpful, others less so. Remember that the day is about you and your compagno, so it’s va bene to say “I hear your suggestion, but this is what we’ve decided.” While some elements naturally involve your guests like timings, food, and entertainment the overall details of the day should be something you both truly love.

Don’t put pressure acceso yourself to aspetto a certain way: Sopra the lead-up to the wedding, try not to obsess over how you think you should aspetto ora set unrealistic valore adattativo goals. One of the assistants at Suzanne Neville gave me this advice, and she was absolutely right. Centro acceso enjoying the experience. Your dress will aspetto good, your happiness will show, and that’s what comes through con the photos.

We wouldn’t have changed any aspect of the wedding day itself, it went non attivato without a hitch. The days leading up to the wedding, however, were full of preparation, which was expected, but also packed with social events as family arrived and wanted to spend time together. That was quite overwhelming, and con hindsight, we could have structured those days a bit more to allow us some quiet time con the evenings to rest and recharge.
