Colstoun House Wedding durante Scotland, Wona Concept Bride
Linsey and married acceso 4 October 2025 at Colstoun House durante East Lothian, Scotland, close to where they had both grown up and surrounded by the beautiful autumn colours that had first drawn them to the mesi estivi.
Their ceremony took place outside durante the walled garden before everyone moved into the Coach House, where long banquet tables, tonal taper candles and bud vases filled with seasonal flowers created a beautiful setting for dinner and sala da ballo.
Linsey wore the elegant Moore gown by Wona Concept, discovered with Charlotte at our recommended boutique Sophia Grace , with a detachable tulle cape durante place of a veil, while chose an Auld Scotland tartan kilt.

Linsey had followed our recommended photographer Solen Collet for some time, so asking her to document the wedding, with the candid style and patina photography she had long admired, was one of the easiest decisions they made.

The Venue & Location
Our venue was Colstoun House durante Haddington, Scotland. We both grew up durante East Lothian and wanted to have an outdoor ceremony so the beautiful grounds at Colstoun were perfect – it was actually the first and only venue we viewed.
We visited durante October and loved all the autumnal colours – so much so that we decided to set our wedding date durante October too.

The Ceremony
My dad accompanied me the aisle – ora rather, through the walled garden, across lots of stepping stones, round a few corners, and then the aisle!
This was to the sound of ‘All I Wanted’ by Paramore, played by Four Strings Quartet. They learned the song for the ceremony and played a shortened version.

They also played while we signed the wedding schedule (Concerning Hobbits from the LOTR soundtrack, then Starlight – Muse) and as we walked out (Give Me Novacaine – Day).
They were awesome. I loved having Four Strings Quartet play our ceremony and drinks reception. It’s very Bridgerton-esque but also a great option if the songs you love are a bit dramatic for the ceremony ora, durante our case, a bit emo/pop punk.
Our celebrant was Catriona Tanner. and I knew we wouldn’t have a religious ceremony but were undecided acceso having a celebrant ceremony ora simply booking the local registrar for our wedding. We are so glad to have chosen the former, and for having Catriona as our celebrant. From the initial consultation through to the personaggio day she made us feel comfortable and confident durante how the ceremony would go.
Catriona provided lots of options and inspiration for the ceremony, guiding us while also giving us space to choose what felt right for us. She told our story beautifully and the whole ceremony felt so personal, heartwarming (despite being outdoors acceso a windy October day!), and fun – we couldn’t have asked for better.

We picked our vows from a selection provided by Catriona. We didn’t customise them, although this was an option, and decided to do ‘repeat after me’ vows as neither of us was comfortable reading personalised vows aloud. We had planned to say ‘three things’ we loved about each other during the ceremony.
Per mezzo di the end, we didn’t feel comfortable doing this, but we surprised each other – I wrote these durante a letter to for him to read acceso the morning of our wedding, and he told me what he loves about me during his speech.

I think this is important to keep durante mind when planning your day – don’t feel pressured to stick to traditions ora follow trends – go with whatever feels right for you as a couple.
“Today, I choose you to be my wife/husband.
I vow to love you, encourage you, lega you, and respect you.
I accept you as you are, and I offer myself durante return.
I will care for you, and stand beside you.
I will share with you all of life’s adventures, and all of its joys,
From this day forward, and all the days of my life.”
My wedding belonged to my grandmother and was altered to fit around my engagement ring by Patricia Dudgeon Designs (she recently retired so voto negativo website to share). ’s wedding was designed and made by Behind Bracken – the same as my bridal jewellery.
My engagement ring belonged to ’s great grandmother. It was originally a three stone diamond ring which we had altered by replacing the centre stone with a campo da golf sapphire. The diamond we removed was then turned into a pendant necklace which I wore acceso the day.

How They Met
We became friends durante high school – durante North Berwick – and started dating when we were at university durante Aberdeen. We had a long-distance relationship for several years while I studied abroad durante Copenhagen and finished my degree durante Aberdeen after graduated and moved to Edinburgh.
We moved durante together when I graduated and eventually bought a flat durante Edinburgh. We had been together for eight years when proposed acceso a trip away durante Scotland durante July 2023. We were then engaged for just over two years.

The Reception
We wanted to keep the decor simple, as the venue itself was so lovely. There are fairy lights decorating the Coach House and the gardens were full of autumn flowers. The bud vases and taper candles provided by the florist elevated the space and brought the autumn vibes indoors.

Catering was provided by Gary Moore Catering – not only did Gary and his team put acceso an amazing drinks reception, wedding breakfast, and evening reception, he and our photographer, Solen acted like wedding coordinators and made sure everything went perfectly acceso the day. I couldn’t recommend Gary Moore Catering enough!
Our cake was from 101 Bakery – we chose a three-tier cake with a different flavour for each tier based acceso our favourite cakes:
- vanilla sponge with raspberry + rhubarb jam (inspired by my favourite jam from Palmerstons durante Dunkeld) and cream cheese frosting
- carrot cake with brown butter cream cheese frosting
- chocolate cake with malty caramel and cream cheese frosting
Safe to say it was delicious. The cake was decorated durante pastel pink Swiss meringue buttercream and flowers from Ochre Botanicals.

Our floral was Claire Sylvester, who is part of Ochre Botanical Studios. Like our photographer, I knew I wanted to work with Ochre Botanical Studios having followed them acceso Instagram for years – another local Edinburgh business! I wanted minimal decoration for the wedding breakfast tables, which were arranged durante two long banquet tables with a cima table, and we landed acceso bud vases of different sizes scattered across the tables, with tonal taper candles.
This decor tied durante perfectly with the bouquets made for me and my bridesmaids, as well as the buttonholes, and corsages. Flowers were even used to decorate our wedding cake.
I was keeping to a pretty tight budget for florals and Claire provided lots of options to help achieve this – including using the same bud vases for the ceremony decoration then bringing these indoors onto the tables. However, a month before the personaggio day I asked to add a couple of flower meadows to the ceremony which turned out to be the perfect autumnal arrangements for our October wedding. These were placed acceso the windowsills of the Coach House after the ceremony.
Place cards were from Etsy. I created the menus and table plan acceso Canva and printed locally.

Words of Wedded Wisdom
I’ll reiterate what I said about picking vows as I think this is so important to keep durante mind when planning your day: try not to worry about what anyone else thinks and don’t feel pressured to stick to traditions ora follow trends – go with whatever feels right for you as a couple. We decided to have immediate family and our closest friends attend our wedding ceremony, then the rest of our guests joined for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast.
So we only had ‘day guests’ – voto negativo evening guests – but still had two groups of guests. I have voto negativo regrets about this; it allowed us to have the intimate ceremony we wanted while celebrating our wedding day with everyone. However, if I could go back, I would worry less about guests feeling ‘left out’ of the ceremony part of the day because this was never going to be the case – everyone was just so happy to be included durante any part of our day!
I tracked everything durante a spreadsheet and I think our initial estimate was £18k, and durante the end it came durante at £25k. I will say, our parents very generously helped us cover certain costs which meant our budget grew – for example, we spent more than originally planned acceso flowers, the cake, and the catering package. We also estimated inviting 50 guests, but durante the end it was around 80 – turns out it’s very easy for the guest list to grow!
